Silverstone Classic Report 2019

Thanks to everyone who made our first Dream Rides event at the Silverstone Classic this weekend such a success.

We raised £5,175 for Birmingham Childrens’ Hospital which considering this is a new event for us and Saturday was a bit of a washout is an excellent result.
There were so many highlights and funny moments over the weekend, but the top one has to be when we were awarded the Mervyn Garton Scarf and Goggles Award for the Best Off-Track Visitor Attraction. Kay and I were both amazed and humbled to receive this award, not to mention highly impressed by the huge trophy.

We could not have done this without our fellow Bears – Those who drove, the helpers who worked the desk, those who managed the garage, those who arrived early to help set up, those who stayed behind on Sunday to pack up, and of course we were blessed on Saturday by the arrival of the Stig.

I’d like to give a special mention to those drivers who may not have done too many rides but treated this in good spirits, filled our garage with great cars (enough to hide the filthy dirty Lexus) and gave our potential customers a fab array of cars to look at which attracted their interest long enough for those Bears that “worked the fence” and the cool wall to sell the concept and a Dream Ride to them. Your efforts cannot be underestimated.

Thank you, all of you.

As well as being given a parade lap by Silverstone, we were also interviewed for Silverstone TV twice, and Chairbear Lisa was invited to the commentary box during our Parade lap. We also made it onto the Picture Gallery of the main Silverstone website

Best Wishes,
